NeLoC project’s Final Conference in Turku on the 15 – 16 of January 2004

NeLoC Networking Logistics Centres in the Baltic Sea Region is a partially EU-funded co-operation project, which provides a networking forum for existing and planned logistics centres in the Baltic Sea Region. Since there is a great number of newly established centres and plans for new ones, the project will enable the exchange of experiences in planning and operating logistics centres.

The Centre for Maritime Studies (CMS) of the University of Turku in Finland has co-ordinated the project for the past two years: the project started in December 2001 and is soon turning to its end. It is time to present the NeLoC results. This will be done in the Final NeLoC Conference taking place in Turku, Finland on the 15 - 16 January 2004. The Conference will not only concentrate in the project results but also - with the help of the invited expert speakers - try to present ways to utilize the results in practice and continue the co-operation in the future. The Conference will offer a good opportunity for professionals of the logistics field and representatives of different public authorities to develop and deepen their co-operation and networking.

The NeLoC project has 24 partners in five different countries, namely in Denmark, Finland, Germany, Lithuania and Poland. NeLoC is divided into three Work packages that focus on the planning of logistics centres, the networking of logistics centres and the ICT-based network for logistics centres in the Baltic Sea Region.

NeLoC is a co-operation project between the Community Initiative Programme Baltic Sea Region INTERREG III B, Cross-Border Co-operation Programme PHARE Small Project Fund Lithuania and the National Committee for Scientific Research in Poland. The project has also been co-financed by the Finnish Ministry of the Interior and the Federal Ministry of Traffic, Building and Housing of Germany.
