Ministry
of Economy
The Ministry of Economy was
established under the law passed on December 12, 1996, replacing
the former ministries of Economics, Energy and Industry and Trade.
The Ministry implements the strategic functions of economic development
(policy, investment, restructuring, regulatory method) and branch
functions of energy, industry and governmental regulation of internal
and external trade.
Basically, the Ministry of
the Economy directs its activities towards restructuring, privatisation
programmes, formation of attractive investment climate, promotion
of small and medium business and creation of new places of employment.
Many complicated problems exist in the energy sector, e.g., system
decentralisation, management, privatisation, energy pricing, liquidation
of arrears, investment and nuclear energy safety.
