City of Turku

The excellent logistic position of Turku is the base for setting up the Pilot Turku project. The target of Pilot Turku is to develop and strengthen the position of the Turku region as a central for North European Logistics. The City of Turku is through Pilot Turku participating the NeLoC project in order to link the city of Turku closely to the network of logistics centres in the Baltic Sea Region. Regional Council of Southwest Finland, the Port of Turku and Turku Technology Centre Ltd. are participating in the NeLoC project together with the City of Turku.

The scope of research conducted by Maritime Institute is very wide. It includes such issues as shipping and port economics, maritime trade and transport forecasting, logistics centres aso.
