City of Kemi

Located in Southern Lapland in Finland, the City of Kemi belongs to Kemi-Tornio-Haparanda region of 70.000 inhabitants, crossing the busy border between Finland and Sweden. The region is Europe's northern-most international industrial area in the Bothnian Arc. About 7 percent of Finland's GDP is produced in the area.

NeLoC activities are run by the Port of Kemi. The port of Kemi is municipal port owned and managed by the City of Kemi. The port of Kemi is the starting point of EU's Northern Corridor - a logistic connection from/to Northwest Russia (Murmansk, Arkhangelsk).

The three harbours in Kemi handle annually cargo of 2,8 million tons. Main exports are paper, pulp, sawn goods, steel and wood. Imports include oil, chemicals, wood chips and pulp wood.
